Kollengode is a typical Keralite town exhibiting all characteristics that one usually identify the state with. A laidback environment, sprawling paddy and palm fields stretching miles, panoramic hill stations all around and its air filled with sounds of prayer bells from ancient temples. A former capital of Kollengode Rajas, the town got its name from the word ‘Kollen’ which in Malayalam means blacksmith, the dominant community that lived here.

Also called the granary land of Kerala, Kollengode is a small town located 19 km from Palakkad district. Typifying the untouched beauty of rural Palakkad, the town has fertile paddy fields on one side and the Nelliampatyy Hills on the other. Gayathri River, a tributary of Kerala’s largest river Bharathapuzha flows through the town.
