Kozhikode is a typical Kerala district with all of the characteristics that one would identify the state with found within its un-spoilt territory. Marvelous backwaters enhancing the natural settings, traditional houseboats cruising along creating tiny waves in the chiseling backwaters, mangrove and coconut palms dotting the landscape and several beaches, rivers, lakes, coastline and dams enhancing the overall experience. Indeed one of the most beautiful regions in God’s own country.
Kozhikode comprises of two Malayalam worlds ‘Koyil’ (palace) and Kodhu (fort). Also known as Calicut, the district is located at northern Kerala with Wayanad hills on the west, Kannur on the north and Arabian Sea on the east. Kozhikode is regarded as the most important city in Malabar region. Area wise, it is the third largest in the state. According to a study based on standard of living index, Kozhikode was rated as the second best city to reside in the country!
Apart from being a well developed modern day city, Kozhikode is a land of great historical importance. In fact we shall say that Kozhikode was directly responsible for India being discovered and linked with the European world as it was here in 1498 that the great sailor Vasco Da Gama anchored his ship- having just discovered a new sea route to a new land-India. Features attracting visitors to the Kozhikode includes its pristine backwaters, rich wildlife, aryurveda centers and historical sites. Trade& commerce were always thriving at Kozhikode-both during the ancient times and the present day. Timber trade especially is highly organized here.



How to reach
By Air: Calicut International Airport is the nearest one located at a distance of 23 km.
By Rail: Kozhikode railway station is well connected to all major cities and towns.
By Road: National Highway (NH 17) passes through the district and along with a well developed network of roads makes it well connected districts.



Climate & Best time to visit
Kozhikode being a coastline district experiences a moderate climate all through the year. The maximum summer temperature is around 35 degree Celsius which falls to around 14 degrees in the winters. Monsoon starts from June and continues till August.
Summers: - March to May
Winters: - December to February
The best time to visit is regarded from October to February.
