Thekkady is one of Kerala’s well known destinations, an important place for power generation and a land blessed with abundant wildlife species. Located at the lap of Western Ghats, Thekkady has miles of Spice plantations, never ending chains of hills and remote, isolated villages dotting its landscape.

Located on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border, a mere 5 km from the border town of kumily, about 50 % of Thekkady is reserved forest. The famous Periyar wildlife reserve is located here, displaying its abundant variety of flora & fauna. The only Tiger reserve in the state, one of Periyar’s great attractions is the boat cruise upon the placid lake providing opportunity for a closer view of the jungle life.

Thekkady is also an ideal place for trekking and mountain walk, and a cool breeze flows across its landscape, making it an ideal destination for getaways.

Chellar Kovil: Like most parts of Kerala, Chellarkovil too displays abundant natural beauty, with numerous waterfalls, lush green landscape and scenic mountain views.

Mangala Devi Temlple: Mangla Devi temple is one of a sacred and highly frequented temple in the region, standing for ages as the symbol of Indian culture and values.

By Road: National Highway (N. H. 49) from Kochi to Madura passes through Idukki district. Thodupuzha, its major town is well connected with other places in the state.
